My Health Journey, Part 2

From Overweight to a New Life, one year already!

About a year ago, I made a radical change in my life. I realized I didn’t have “just a few extra kilos” anymore – it had become a real health problem. My body was sending clear signals: high blood pressure, fatigue, and constant aches. The doctor was straightforward – if I didn’t make a change, things would only get worse. That moment became my turning point.

After consulting with my doctor, I decided to undergo surgery. At first, I was unsure, mostly because I didn’t know enough. But deep down, I knew it was the right choice. Before the procedure, I was told to lose ten kilos – I almost made it. Soon after the surgery, I felt a huge difference. My energy came back, and I was able to start moving again.

I began with something simple: daily walks with my two Siberian Huskies. They waited by the door every morning, ready to go no matter the weather. Those 40–50-minute powerwalks became the foundation of my new life. Then I joined a gym – at first 2–3 sessions a week, later 4–5. I increased both strength and intensity, added running and cycling, and tracked everything I ate using the FatSecret app.

My diet changed step by step – smaller portions, more vegetables, less bread and pasta. A protein shake for breakfast gave me a stable start to the day. Small changes became new habits, and soon the results started to show. The weight dropped, the cravings for sweets and beer disappeared, and I felt lighter in both body and mind.

After a year, I had lost 32 kilos. My blood pressure, blood sugar, and all other values were back to normal. I slept well, had more energy, and felt stronger than ever. There was no miracle, no quick fix – just consistent choices, day after day. Movement, good food, rest – and two dogs that never let me give up.

Today, this is not a diet or a project anymore – it’s my lifestyle. I train to feel good, not to chase numbers on a scale. I eat to give my body what it needs. And every morning, when my dogs stand by the door with eager eyes, I’m reminded of why I started – to live fully, with strength, balance, and energy.
