My Health Journey
A few years ago, I had enough. My body was breaking down – high blood pressure, night sweats, and a constant exhaustion that never left me. The doctor was clear: if I didn’t change my lifestyle, things would only get worse. It was a hard truth to face, but also the turning point I needed.
I started with the simplest step – going out in the mornings. Our two Siberian Huskies became my training partners. They stood by the door every day, eager to get outside, no matter the weather or how I felt. They pulled me out when motivation was low, and in the beginning, it was all about just keeping up with their pace. Those 40–50 minute powerwalks became my first routine, and also a reminder of responsibility – for them, and for myself.
After a while, I took the next step. I joined the gym three times a week. At first, it felt awkward and heavy, but slowly my strength grew. My body started to respond, and with that came a new confidence.
At the same time, I began to look at my diet. I made small changes, step by step. Smaller portions, more vegetables, less bread and pasta. I swapped breakfast for a protein shake – something that gave me a more stable start to the day. Each little adjustment built on the last, and soon I noticed that both my energy and my mood were improving.
I weighed myself once a week. It became a way to stay focused, to see that the effort was paying off. When the numbers went down, I felt joy. When they stayed the same, it was a reminder to be patient.
After a year, I had lost over 30 kilos. My blood pressure was normal, my blood sugar stable, and I slept soundly through the nights. Most importantly, I had regained the joy of living – the strength to enjoy everyday life and to be present.
It wasn’t a miracle cure, no quick fix. It was the small daily choices that built my transformation. Movement, food, rest – and two dogs that never let me give up.
Today, it’s my lifestyle. I train to feel good, not to chase numbers on a scale. I eat to give my body what it needs. And every morning, when the dogs stand by the door with their expectant eyes, I’m reminded why I began – to live fully, with strength, balance, and energy.
